Sint-Pietersberg

« We have been working with Bart Vandermeeren, managing director of Airco Project Services, since 2003. For the first few years, he coordinated the Sint-Pietersberg project. Since 2006, as MD of Airco Project Services, he has acted as a consultant and supported a variety of initiatives, including the Sint-Pïetersberg project, developed by Regionaal Landschap Haspengouw en Voeren, a non-profit organisation that promotes the special features of this regional landscape. This ambitious and complex Interreg project, involving 13 partners from 3 regions, was successfully managed in-house, together with over 20 project stages. Airco Project Services then took care of communications and coordinated maintenance work. The creation of a cross-border, multilingual group of volunteers is a very special achievement. These ‘ambassadors’ regularly inspect the hiking/cycling routes. And so is the visitor payback system, which facilitates maintenance. The Regionaal Landschap and Airco share the philosophy of aiming to provide sustainable support for nature and landscape. This includes developing high-quality leisure products and services, which really are aimed at the end-user. »

The project known as Mount St. Peter, between the Geer and Meuse is an Interreg III-A project in the Meuse-Rhine Euroregion. After being commissioned by the Regionaal Landschap Haspengouw en Voeren Vzw in 2003, we began work on this initiative, which we continued to coordinate as Airco after 2006. Its purpose was to develop and promote a cross-border hiking/cycling network and restore landscapes.
